The Tears of Niobe.
Niobe was the wife of Amphion, the King of Thebes. Together they had seven sons and seven daughters. Niobe and Amphion were very proud of their children.Until day, Niobe started boasting that she was superior than Leto my mother, since my mother was only blessed with two children which was my younger twin brother Apollo, the god of the sun and myself. Outraged by the insult, my mother swore revenge on Niobe, so she asked my brother and I to eliminate Niobe's children one by one.We obeyed of course and we killed all fourteen children with arrows dipped in poison. Apollo aimed at the male, whereas I aimed at the female children. After their death, Niobe’s children had to remain without burial for nine days because Zeus my father , the King of the Gods, promised he would turn anyone who attempted to bury the children into stone.Niobe and Amphion were inconsolable. From the effect of their children's death Amphion committed suicide, while Niobe resorted to Sipylos, a city of the Near East. Once there, she pleaded with the gods for mercy, asking them to take away her life. The gods finally sympathized and they turned Niobe into stone, placing her at the peak of the city. Ever since that day, every summer, one can see drops of water seeping out of the stone's pores...they are nothing but the tears of Niobe! ( and that's why you don't boast with my mom )
Virgin Goddess.
When I was a little girl I asked my father Zeus if I could be a virgin goddess. I wasn't the only though, there were two more virgin goddesses. They was Hestia, the goddess of hearths and home and Athena, the goddess of wisdom. Clearly I'm unique. It was never a demand from my parents to be one of the three virgin goddesses , it was a choice. Through the years of being a virgin goddess there were many gods that tried to get my attention and were interested in me. Alpheus, a river god, was in love with me but he realized through the years of secretly loving me her could do anything to make me fall under his spell. So he decides to attempt to capture me, when I was going to Alphaeus with one of my companions Letrenoi I felt something suspicious so I covered my face with mud so nobody could recognize me. Another was Bouphagos, the son of the Titan Iapetos, who sees me and thinks of raping me but reading his thoughts I strike him at Mount Pholoe. One more I will tell you about is one day while Actaeon was on his way to hunt he stumbled upon me bathing naked in the woods of Orchomenos, surrounded by my Nymphs. Amazed by my beautiful body and divine grace, he couldn't help staring. When I became aware of this I got furious and punished Actaeon by transforming him into a stag.
Actaeon became fearful and fled away but his own hunting dogs, 50 in number, jumped on him and tore him to pieces and devoured him, thinking that he was a real stag. Though all these gods falling for me I fell for one man and it was my hunting companion, Orion who won my heart. Sadly Orion was accidentally killed either by myself or by Gaia.
